TIPS on SAVING ELECTRICITY for the HOLIDAY


Christmas holiday is swiftly approaching. It would be nice to start saving anything so you can add them to your budget either for food, gifts and shopping. Below are some reminders on how you can slash your electricity bill.

  1. Air-condition. Not all houses have their HVAC system or home's heating, ventilating and air-conditioning. But for some family with the installed device, this relates the highest on your entire electric bill. Therefore, it is recommended to change the filters often, at least every 3 months. Congested filters consume additional energy. Make sure every part of the house is sealed when the appliance is on.

  1. Light bulbs. This is by far the most familiar way to save electricity. Everyone knows the significance of using CFL or compact fluorescent light bulbs rather than by means of the standard light bulbs. If you are not aware, replace your bulbs now, and you might notice a decrease on your bill next month. Avoid turning the CFL bulbs for minutes, for it reduces its lifespan.

  1. Water Heater. Do not set this machine too high to keep away from wasting a large amount of power. Setting the thermostat to 120 degrees Fahrenheit will save you energy, than bringing it too high.

  1. Appliances- the filters of your washing machine and refrigerator require regular cleaning. Avoid putting hot food inside the fridge. The more assembled shelves, the easier is the surge of air making it more efficient to save energy. Be sure the door is always sealed after closing. It is advisable to position your ref away from source of heat.

  1. Other devices. These are the energy vampires or the electricity suckers. At all times, unplug appliances that are not in use. It is not enough to just turn them off. Studies show that turning the device to sleep mode doesn’t actually lessen energy consumption. Energy vampires include television, laptops, DVD players, components, battery chargers, adapter and the likes.
